Despite being a crucial part of grade exams, easy marks are often lost due to poor preparation of scales. With a bit of dedicated work and practice, you can get the top marks you deserve! In this lesson we will learn how to play the G major scale on trombone.
*T = Trigger/Valve/F-attachment
Tips
The high F# is played in a sharpened 3rd position – make sure to listen very carefully to make sure the slide is in exactly the right place. As well as this the high G is played in a sharpened 2nd position. Practice with a tuner or a drone to ensure these pitches are accurate.
It is useful to practice playing this scale with the Bs in 7th position and the Cs in 6th position even if you have a valve in order to improve slide dexterity and accuracy.
